Welcome to Elden Ring system requirements article. We have got you covered with minimum & recommended requirements.
When the Elden Ring system requirements landed on Steam with a dull, disappointing thud, I confessed to being concerned about how FromSoftware’s latest would perform on PC. How difficult will it be to travel the Lands Between on the highest quality settings if the minimum recommended graphics card is a GTX 1060? Or in 4K?
Elden Ring turns out to be perfectly playable on a variety of hardware, and if you do want to increase the frame rate, there are over a dozen custom graphics options to help you get there. But be warned: just because it runs reasonably well on PC doesn’t mean it’s a particularly good PC port.
Elden Ring is now available and has received a day-one patch, which aims to address the stuttering issue described in the performance section below. Unfortunately, players are still reporting issues, including some that I managed to avoid, such as invisible enemies. Oh, no! However, there are a few possible fixes you can try, and I’ll keep this guide updated as more official improvements become available.

Elden Ring, like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Dark Souls III before it, launches with a 60fps cap – so anyone who’s invested in one of the best graphics cards or gaming monitors will be restricted, at least until enterprising modders can come up with an unofficial patch. And, while Elden Ring probably feels better on a controller than a mouse and keyboard, UI rework for the latter is still lacking.
For the time being, the best you can hope for is a steady 60 frames per second. Let’s start with a refresher on the system requirements and see how accurate they are.
Elden Ring System Requirements
Minimum Elden Ring System Requirements
- OS – Windows 10
- CPU – Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 3 3300X
- GPU – Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB / AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB
- RAM – 12GB | Storage – 60GB
- DirectX – DirectX 12
Recommended Elden Ring System Requirements
- OS – Windows 10 / 11
- CPU – Intel Core I7-8700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
- GPU – Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX Vega 56
- RAM – 16GB | Storage – 60GB SSD
- DirectX – DirectX 12
I find asking for 12GB of system RAM strange, but if your PC isn’t quite up to these standards, know that you have more wiggle room than such a high minimum spec would imply. When I tested the GTX 1060, it was a 6GB model rather than a 3GB model, and it was installed in my main test rig, which has an Intel Core i5-11600K processor and 16GB of RAM. However, given that this combination averaged 49fps at 1080p using the Maximum graphics preset, having less memory or an older GPU shouldn’t prevent you from exceeding 30fps at this resolution. Especially when the quality is reduced: the High preset averaged 55fps, Medium 59fps, and Low a near-constant 60fps.

Elden Ring at 1440p can even be handled by the 6GB GTX 1060, with performance averages ranging from 37fps on High to 57fps on Low. And having a better GPU isn’t entirely pointless: Elden Ring averaged a solid 60fps at 1440p and a perfectly playable 51fps at 4K when I used an RTX 3070 instead of the GTX 1060. That is, once again, on the Maximum preset.
Still…a 60fps limit? In today’s world? And, while it isn’t strictly a performance issue, any dedicated mouse and keyboard user should be wary of Elden Ring’s console-style interface. At all times, Xbox controller buttons adorn the menu and inventory UIs, and what should be basic keyboard input replacements – such as Escape returning you to a previous menu screen – are not in place.

In this case, the wacky workaround is to right-click to open an additional context menu, then left-click the “Back” option. Which, of course, is accompanied by a large red controller button icon. This concludes the Elden Ring System Requirements PC Article. We hope you found it useful!
