Elden Ring Crystal Cave – Academy, Liurnia of the Lakes is home to the Academy Crystal Cave. West of the Raya Lucaria Academy is the entrance.
Academy Crystal Cave: General
Following the Liurnia shallows west of the Raya Lucaria Academy will lead you to the Academy Crystal Cave. The entrance is blocked by an Imp Statue on the western cliff below the academy. Look for the entrance. To remove the fog barrier, you’ll need two Stonesword Keys. Except for the sparkles of glintstone spells cast by the sorcerers within, these caves are pitch black. While exploring the caves, it is highly recommended that you bring a torch with you.
The area’s Site of Grace is located shortly after the entrance. Keep going inside the cave and look to your left for Crystal Cave Moss.
This cave is abundant in this item, so keep an eye out for it if you need it for crafting. If you desire, you can assassinate or skip a Rat who has its back to you. A few more Rats await you on the route ahead. You’ll arrive in a vast foggy cave with several pillar-sized crystals if you follow the linear path.
In this cave, there are multiple Twinsage Sorcerers wielding powerful glintstone spells. Block their line of sight as well as their projectiles with the crystal pillars. Look for the lone sorcerer facing a pillar at the cave’s entrance and use this opportunity to ambush him with a critical assault.
Be on the lookout for a second sorcerer lurking behind that pillar, as well as a party of three sorcerers arriving from the cave’s back. When you see an opportunity to hit many crystals, weave around them and take them out one by one, mixing in any AoE attacks. Near the north end of the cave, there are two more sorcerers adjacent to each other, and one more behind a pillar a few steps ahead.
After you’ve defeated all of the sorcerers, seek for a small room with a cage in the northwest. The body in the cage contains a Stonesword Key, as well as some Budding Cave Moss along the walls.
Return to the main cave area and exit through a tunnel that leads to a wooden doorway on the east side. When you open the door, you’ll find yourself in a type of storage area with a formidable wizard defending the opening on the left. This mage has a lot greater stamina than the Twinsage Sorcerers and can endure a lot more damage. At the back, there’s a Glintstone Sorcerer.
Go past the room guarded by the tanky mage to a room with a Sorcerer standing on an elevated platform. Defeat the sorcerer and take a Rune Arc from the room’s chest. To gain access to the elevated platform, fight a nearby illusory wall and plunder another chest for the Crystal Staff.
Return to the storage area and look to the east for the fog gate that leads to the boss of this dungeon: The Crystalians. This boss fight pits you against two Crytalian foes. The one has a spear and the other has a staff. Both are shielded by a thick, crystal shield, lessening the damage they absorb from your strikes greatly. After each Crystalian’s HP hits a specific percentage, the shields will finally break.
Their shields will have cracks in them, indicating that you can now deliver full damage to them. You should utilize a tanky summon like the Kaiden Sellsword Ashes to distract one of the Crystalians while you concentrate on the other. The Crystal Release Sorcery spell is obtained by defeating this pair of bosses. Continue through the bosses to a door that leads to an elevator that will take you to a tower within the academy.
